Temperament of the Giant Schnauzer breed

Generally, Giant Schnauzers are protective of their home and their masters. They are watchful with strangers and sensitive to new people. To promote socialization, they have to be trained to be around people and other dogs more often. Some Giant Schnauzer dogs are shy and timid while some are hard-tempered and vigorous. Experienced dog owners can describe this breed as loyal, loving, silly, reliable and clownish. Males have stronger personalities than other male breeds. Once leadership has been established, Giant Schnauzer is obedient and can easily be trained. They are highly intelligent but sometimes they react to kids if handled harshly.
