Temperament of the Cocker Spaniel breed

The American Cocker Spaniel is one of the friendliest dogs. They enjoy being around the family and aren’t harmful to children. They are very playful and active. However, Cocker Spaniels don’t make good guard dogs, they tend to wag their tails, lick and befriend every one they see. They are also known as the “Merry Cocker” because they love to socialize and be around people. The breed tends to suffer from separation anxiety and shouldn’t be left alone for a long time. They are also sensitive to noise and can be stressed quickly by rough handling. Cocker Spaniels can easily be trained.

Generally, Cocker Spaniels have good temperament. All characteristics that you are looking for in a family pet, the Cocker Spaniel has them. They’re actually considered as one of the top dogs in the US and best selling one.
