Rottweiler

The Rottweiler dog breed is a medium-large sized domestic dog. It was originally from Rottweil, Germany. Thus, the name Rottweiler was derived. The dogs were known as "Rottweil butchers' dogs" for they were used to pull carts laden with butchered meat and herd livestock. Rottweilers are also believed to have also been used for hunting, although today's Rottweiler training have a relatively low hunting instinct. This breed is very intelligent. As a matter of fact, the Rotti was employed in its traditional roles until the mid-19th century when railroads replaced droving for getting livestock to market. While still used in herding, Rottis are now also used in search and rescue operations, as guard or police dogs and sometimes as guide dogs for the blind.
